The Vail Plaza Hotel - West was designed to complement the eastern wing, creating the critical mass necessary for a full service convention hotel. Located west of the main Vail round-about, the Vail Plaza Hotel - West will serve as an anchor to the redevelopment of West Meadow Drive, the primary pedestrian connection between Vail’s two villages. The building’s lodging spaces consist of fifteen free market dwelling units, one hundred sixteen hotel rooms, forty fractional fee club units, and fourteen employee housing units. A restaurant, lounge, lobby, retail space, conference facilities, pool and spa are also located within the hotel.
The design of the hotel is intended to step up in mass from the pedestrian areas at the south to the vehicular areas along the north edge of the site, taking full advantage of solar exposure and views. Internal gardens and plazas have been incorporated into the design to reinforce the “Alpine Italian” theme of the hotel.
